STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT OF A FUTURE ORIENTED PORT AND TERMINAL
Workshop Overview
In the midst of the fourth industrial revolution, propelled by globalization, deregulation, climate change and the digital
revolution, the port industry is evolving very fast. The challenges of decarbonization, supply chain disruptions and the
opportunities digitalization and innovation will bring about are some of the key themes that will shape the port industry now
and in the future. Faced with those challenges and opportunities, ports and terminals around the world are required to
redefine their strategic, planning, operations and business models to embrace and implement a seamless transition towards
smart, green, efficient, innovative and agile port systems.
This is a high-level and intensive 5-day course targeted at port professionals. It will enable the participants to fully understand
and apprehend the contemporary trends and challenges that the global port industry faces today, their applications and
implications in the local and regional port context. Participants will be able to identify and appreciate current and future port
needs and challenges; and to develop effective strategies and solutions that adapt and respond to the rapidly changing
market conditions. In addition to lecture modules, the course will include practical applications, group exercises, two modelling
